Put the “Port” in Portable
Many customers new to Verizon can keep the phone number they already have.
If you want to make the switch to America’s most reliable wireless network but you’re concerned about losing your current phone number, relax. Verizon’s got you covered.
There are three ways to see if you can port your current phone number.
Many new Verizon customers can keep the number they already have, depending on their current service provider’s network and type of phone. The act of switching your phone number to a Verizon phone is called “porting.” And it’s easy to do.
There are three ways to see if you can port your current phone number:
- Go to any Verizon Wireless store or authorized agent location, and check with a representative.
- Call 1-800-2-JOIN-IN (800-256-4646).
- Go to verizonwireless.com/port. You will see a form that allows you to enter your current phone number to check its eligibility for porting.
To help the porting process go smoothly, keep your current service active until you make the switch to Verizon. Keep a copy of your current bill, and be sure to have a backup of all the contacts that were on your old phone. Remember, only the authorized account holder can port a given number to a Verizon phone.
