Lost Your Phone? Here’s How to Find It.

Without assistance, losing your phone can be expensive and cost you some important information.

November 12, 2011

Mobile phones have joined the list of items people just can’t live without. Photos, contacts, confidential email, passwords and apps can make your cell phone a valuable asset.

Although none of us plans to lose a device, it happens. Insurance provider Asurion reports that 60 million Americans lose their phones in the course of a year. Not only is this expensive—the average cost of replacing a phone, for example, is $300—it can compromise important information.

When forgetfulness strikes, one great tool to have on hand is Mobile Recovery, a free app available to Total Equipment Coverage subscribers. Here are some of the ways it can help.

Ring the alarm!
Mobile Recovery allows you to signal a loud tone on your phone, even if it’s been set to silent. Ninety-nine percent of the time, that’s enough to locate your misplaced device.

Locate your lost phone on a map.
If your device is out of earshot, Mobile Recovery will find your device on a map and provide turn-by-turn instructions on how to get there.

Delete and secure information on your lost device.
Finding your phone can take time, so in the interim you might want to secure the personal information. Mobile Recovery once again has your back and allows you to lock the phone—or even delete contacts—remotely.

Mobile Recovery is included at no extra charge with a Total Equipment Coverage subscription.1 Eligible customers can download the Mobile Recovery application via mymobilerecovery.com or by texting GETMR (43867) from the device.

No luck? Replace the device.
When all else fails, you’ll need to replace the device. And if you already subscribe to Total Equipment Coverage, no worries—you’re protected if your device is lost, stolen, damaged (even from water) or has a mechanical or electrical defect after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. Total Equipment Coverage offers a replacement device as soon as the next day. You can file loss, theft and damage claims 24/7, online or by phone. And Extended Warranty claims can conveniently be made in a Verizon Wireless store or over the phone.

Visit verizonwireless.com/equipmentprotection or talk to a Verizon sales representative for more details and pricing information on both Total Equipment Coverage and Mobile Recovery.

And in the meantime, keep an eye on that phone.
